The Syllabus

One On One Scuba Training offers the following classes either privately or in small groups. Contact us for rates and schedules.

Basic Open Water Scuba Diver
Receive your open water certification in four days. The first two days are academic and pool, the second two days are ocean diving. We do a minimum of four ocean dives, however, depending on schedules, we will try to get one or two additional dives in on the second day. There is no added charge for this. Normally we train in the ocean at Casino Point on Catalina Island. See the pricing page for rates and schedules. You can contact us by email, or call us at 877-746-8547 for more information.

Buoyancy and Trim
This is probably one of the most valuable classes you can ever take as a certified diver. The program is designed to increase your diving skills in precise buoyancy control and a horizontal swimming position. Emphasis is placed on correct weighting, hovering off the bottom, non-silting propulsion techniques, and ascents that include multiple stops both on a line and in mid-water. See the pricing page for rates and schedules. You can contact us by email, or call us at 877-746-8547 for more information.

Advanced Scuba Diver
Already a Certified Open Water Diver? Join us in an advanced class for six more speciality dives. During this time we study and explore techniques of buoyancy and trim, navigation, deep diving, night diving, shore and/or boat diving, and several other topics of your choice. See the pricing page for rates and schedules. You can contact us by email, or call us at 877-746-8547 for more information.

Dry Suit Diver
Love diving in California? Hate being cold? Join the ranks of experienced divers who have discovered the comfort and safety of dry suit diving. You can contact us by email, or call us at 877-746-8547 for more information.

Deep Diver
Your initial training prepared you for dives down to 60 feet. In this class you will learn to safely explore to depths of 100 feet. You will learn about nitrogen narcosis, increased air consumption at depth, emergency procedures, and other techniques specific to deeper diving. Prerequisites are Advanced Scuba Diver and a checkout dive. Highly refined buoyancy skills are required for this class. See the pricing page for rates and schedules. You can contact us by email, or call us at 877-746-8547 for more information.

Night Diver
Discover the vast array of marine wildlife that comes out at night. This course will prepare you for diving after the sun has gone down, practicing navigation, ascents and descents, and emergency procedures. Night is one of the most beautiful times to be in the water; come enjoy it with us safely. See the pricing page for rates and schedules. You can contact us by email, or call us at 877-746-8547 for more information.

Search and Recovery
In this class you start to learn to work underwater. The skills covered include running search patters, deploying and swimming with underwater lift bags, and moving heavy objects on the sea floor and to the surface. See the pricing page for rates and schedules. You can contact us by email, or call us at 877-746-8547 for more information.

First Aid/CPR
This is a class everyone should take. Learn CPR and basic first aid techniques for both scuba divers and land-based emergencies. First Aid/CPR is a prerequisite for Rescue and Dive Master training. See the pricing page for rates and schedules. You can contact us by email, or call us at 877-746-8547 for more information.

NAUI Try Scuba Diving
Want to have a go at diving without committing to a complete open water class? Try Scuba Diving allows you that opportunity. A few hours of academic work, a complete equipment checkout, then it's off to the ocean for two closely guided shallow scuba dives. If you enjoy it, the dives and training can be credited toward an Open Water class that will provide full certification. See the pricing page for rates and schedules. You can contact us by email, or call us at 877-746-8547 for more information.

Scuba Refresher (for certified divers)
Been a while? Join us for a refresher. This is a great way for certified divers who have been out of the water to regain lost skills and increase confidence. We also use this format if you are beginning to dive with new or unfamiliar gear. See the pricing page for rates and schedules. You can contact us by email, or call us at 877-746-8547 for more information.
